After trying the apple cider vinegar smoothie with actual mangoes (with skin), I decided to get rid of the rest of my bananas today by making more smoothies. A reminder that my blender cannot make all of this smoothie in one go, which is why I blend “slowly” to chop up the ingredients, then pour half into a smoothie bottle, blend the remainder until smooth, dump that into a second bottle, then blend the contents of the first bottle. I know it sounds like a lot, but I tend to make at least 48 ounces of smoothie every time I break out the blender.
I honestly think this may be one of my favorite combos so far. I think it’s the apple cider vinegar that balances the whole thing so that it remains sweet, but not overbearingly so, and also without watering it down, which was one issue with using smoothie recipes with part water. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but I do like to vary the kinds of smoothies I drink some, and sometimes, they are far too sweet. Apple cider vinegar seems to be a good solution for that that also doesn’t compromise flavor and tastiness.
So, this particular combo consisted of:
- 3 bananas
- mostly apple juice
- a splish splash dribble of mango juice
- a swig of apple cider vinegar. An actual swig. I wouldn’t go too overboard on this as I haven’t tried it in a stronger portion and have no idea what it tastes like, so…not going to recommend that to you.
I did use the Langers Mongo Mango Juice Cocktail for this, as the label is not showing in the photo this time. I have mixed feelings about this juice cocktail thus far, as the other smoothies I used it in turned out far too sweet, even for me, and I’m a sugar fiend. I do think this would be good with actual mango, peeled, which I did not do when I made another variation of this apple cider vinegar smoothie (I often do not peel mangos before I blend them).
This smoothie would work great for anyone baby-stepping into or out of a water fast, anyone just doing a juice fast, or anyone just looking for a healthy, energy-boosting beverage. I also drank this throughout the day around my other meals despite it containing apple cider vinegar. In truth, this is the best thing I’ve ever tried with ACV in it so I’m looking forward to experimenting with more combos and sharing those with you.
